How to clean outdoor furniture –

The firrst step to spending time outdoors this spring is to spend a little time cleaning your furniture, whether you have wicker, cushions or fabric  a little soap and water is usually all it takes to clean outdoor furniture, here are some tips from HGTV,

Wicker outdoor furniture can be cleaned using a hose or pressure washer. First, remove the cushions and spray off dirt and spills. If the wicker is really dirty, use a sponge, mild soap and cold water to wash. Allow the furniture to dry completely. Then apply a paste wax to the frame to keep it shiny and water-resistant. Some types of wicker are weather-resistant, making care easier. Store cushions indoors and keep frames covered during the off-season.

Wooden outdoor furniture that has been coated with an exterior-grade varnish can be cleaned using soapy water. Be sure to completely rinse the furniture with clean water. Wooden furniture, with the exception of teak and cedar, should be stored indoors during the winter.

Fabric outdoor furniture, such as hammocks and cloth chairs, can be machine-washed on the gentle cycle. Add bleach for white items. Hang outside to dry. To avoid shrinkage, stretch back over the frame before the fabric is completely dry. Frames should be cared for based on the material. Store fabric furniture indoors during the winter.

Cleaning Contemporary Modern Leather Sofas

Sofas are something that people spend alot of time shopping for.  Everyone is looking for something that is great looking and comfortable, however a sofa is something that get s alot of use over the years. If you were to look under the cushions and in the cracks you would find dust and crumbs so naturally you want to keep your sofa clean. We spend alot of time on our sofas so, the best thing to know is how to battle any of the spills that happen in life.

Many people wonder how to clean a leather sofa, so that it gives the maximum lifespan.  Here below we will show you how.

First off, there are different types of leather and different types of stains. So there isn’t necessarily one major piece of advice that can solve every problem. Still, there are some general tips and suggestions that seem to work for most leather sofa owners who’ve battled tough-to-remove stains. And that’s what we’ll talk about in this article. Some ideas might seem obvious, while others may be a bit surprising. But all of these may not be okay to experiment with, as it’s difficult to find one product that is totally leather sofa-approved.

Still, we don’t want to generalize too much. Finished leather and unfinished leather are very different things. Your sofa is probably finished, which means there are some basic ways you can clean it. To get rid of most grime, all you’ll need is a slightly damp, soft rag and some soap (but not anything too coarse). Gently rub the soap into the leather and then wipe it dry with a clean cloth. After the sofa has dried, you can invest in a deep conditioning formula to work into the leather; it can be easily found at the store.

Overall, you really do take a lot of risks when you try to clean leather. The wrong product can change the color of your sofa! A good idea is to test your cleaning supplies on a part of the sofa that no one will ever see. Wait to watch what unfolds before you apply it to the target stain.

Now, what kind of stain are you dealing with? Different stains will require different approaches. Let’s go down the list of the most common ones.

Ink stains are some of the most frustrating ones out there but often simply spraying it with hairspray and wiping it clean can do the trick. You might have to get some professional help, however, if this doesn’t work.

Water stains often plague leather sofas for the reason that it is used to clean it! This is why it’s so important to only use damp, not soaking, cloths when trying to remove stains. Water should dry naturally on the leather and then be met with a leather conditioner after it’s dried.

What about grease? Like with most stains, you’ll want to have a clean cloth on hand to gently blot the grease. Talcum powder and corn starch are said to work to fight grease in particular. Don’t rub it into the grease, however. Instead let it sit on top of it for a good four hours. Then you can wipe it away. Your leather sofa should be grease-free with his method.

Do you have a pet dog or a cat thats in your home and on your sofa, if so you might smell some pet odor and find out that your animals have made some scents on your furniture,  Fortunately all your need is a clean damp rag to take care of the problem, just let the area dry on its own naturally, this same method works for blood stains in some cases.

.

Its important to be careful of your furniture but no to worry to much if you spill something just abide by these cleaning tips and you are sure to keep your couch in tip top shape for years to come.

Wow, a Noguchi Coffee Table !

The famous Noguchi Table…this is a must have piece of furniture. It was designed by the sculptor Isamu Noguchi. It is very simplistic and has an organic form. I rather this piece to a rectangular or square coffee table… the shape of the Noguchi allows you to walk around it without having to walk like a robot. A very good quality  reproduction of this piece you can find at a reasonable price at Loft Sofas
