1950s Modernism: Architects & Designers: architecturaldigest.com

1950s Modernism

This is one of my favorite pieces.. The Barcelona Daybed by Van Der Rohe, it amazes me how a design made in the 1950’s is still as modern as most things being design now a day. This is a piece that can be use as a sofa or as a daybed in a living room, den, a guestroom if you don’t want a typical bed. Is minimalistic and sleek…it is a classic!… you can find a good quality reproduction  for a reasonable price at Loft Sofas in black, white leather or pony skin!

Ball Chair – A contemporary solution for seating in your home.

BALL CHAIRThe ball chair has a simple geometric form that is unconventional, and extremely cozy. It offers a great deal of privacy either while talking on a phone or reading your favorite book. The design although presented to the world in 1966 its still cutting edge today, it can spin on its own axis 360 degrees where you can view the outside world while feeling protected in your own ‘room within a room’. It’s a great retro modern chair that appeals to all, and is considered a classic design.  Fiberglass shell, upholstery offered in red also. Available in the Loft Sofas Ball Chair Miami - Available in many colors, Contemporary Chair Florida

Contemporary Interior Design – Church Converted into a Home

This is one of those love it or hate it projects a former church turned into a ultra contemporary apartment which even keeps some of the original features of the church.  I like the style but I am not sure if I would feel comfortable living in a home like this.  Its definitely something different.  The name is  “Church of living,” by ZECC architects in Holland. A Dutch chapel was converted to a house, and was a finalist for a Dutch Design Award.  So if you happen to have a extra church hanging around here is a option to make a house that some would consider heavenly
